Handel's Messiah
Festival Theatre
8pm Saturday 4 April
Anyone who has experienced Messiah will understand Handel’s heartfelt exclamation during its composition that ‘I think I did see all of heaven before me and even the great God himself.’ With its mighty choruses and timeless theme of divine love transfigured by suffering and sacrifice, no other work in western music has moved so many people of all faiths, or none, for more than two and a half centuries.
For this performance, commemorating the 150th anniversary of the work’s first orchestral performance in South Australia, the Graduate Singers will join other Adelaide singers and perform with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and Handel expert Graham Abbott.

"Soar joyfully upwards to the exalted stars"
Bach's choral music provides some of the most uplifting and most poignant moments in the repertoire. The genius of his writing makes it satisfying and indeed rewarding for listener and performer alike.
Graduate Singers present three cantatas with instrumental ensemble and some of Adelaide's finest young soloists. Experience Bach's music from the sorrowful "Aus der tiefen" (out of the depths), to the joyous "Schwingt freudig" (Soar joyfully), to the well love and familiar "Wachet auf" (Sleepers wake).
Cantata 36 - Schwingt freudig euch empor
Cantata 131 - Aus der Tiefen rufe ich
Canata 140 - Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme

Requiem
St Peter's Cathedral, North Adelaide
7.30pm Saturday 22 August
Graduate Singers present two very different, highly dramatic and moving settings of the requiem.
One of the most stunning examples of Renaissance polyphony, the rich sonorities of the Victoria Requiem are perfectly suited to the sumptuous acoustic of St Peter’s Cathedral. Paired with this is the 20th Century setting by English composer Herbert Howells. Written 350 years apart and in two different cultures, these two works demonstrate the vast palette of vocal colour and effects available in a capella singing. They are true masterpieces of choral music.
Revelation
St Peter's Cathedral, North Adelaide
7:30 pm Saturday 31 October
Graduate Singers continue to break new ground in the performance of choral music in Adelaide with what is possibly a world first, combining choral music with the electronic stringed instrument known as the Chapman Stick.
Andy Salvanos' name may be unfamiliar to Adelaide audiences but his music and performance are well know as he is one of the finest musicians to entertain audiences in Rundle Mall. Andy will join the Graduate Singers in new and interesting interpretations of music ranging from the Renaissance to the modern day.
